“Maturity and growth: Where are you in your life as you transition to adulthood. Are you struggling with becoming an adult?
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been conversing with some young people in my community on the subject of maturity and growth. Actually most expressed experiencing challenges with this thing called “being an adult”, straddling between the idea of being told what to do and making independent decisions, paying bills, having more responsibilities, looking for an apartment, etc.
Where are you in your life as you transition from youth to adulthood? And how are you struggling with being an adult? My curiosity is heightened to your struggle. With this, I am compelled to pose these questions to the rest of you and hope to solicit tangible feedback.
What is it like for you to be a young person embracing maturity and growth at your age? What scares you? What are some of your challenges? Do you feel stuck? Where do you feel stuck? With what are you stuck? and how are you stuck?
Did you anticipate entering adulthood this challenging? Did you have any preconceived notions of what the process would feel like, look like? What did you expect?
I hope I have staged this thought to hopefully get you engaged in this week’s conversation. I look forward to hearing your feelings, so with that, What’s on your mind?

Fear and stress
Our society is living in a state of Fear, stress and restlessness. It does not matter if we are young people or we are middle aged or seniors. Every day when I turn on the news or read the newspaper or sit at the local coffee shop observing the conversations being exchanged over a hot/cold beverage. There seems to be a common thread circulating throughout the atmosphere.
The very atmosphere does not feel calm, but feels full of tension and stress and a sense of uneasiness. From a young person’s point of view, I would ask, what’s going on? Why do you fear? From an older person’s point of view, I ask the same question, what’s going on? What do you fear?
Here’s what I think: I think our world is experiencing certain uneasiness because of the many distractions going on all over the world. We have potential war and attacks, senseless killings, children being injured or hurt in avoidable situations, a lack of respect for life, a lack of love for each other and the list goes on and on.
There is a cure and I believe it is in pointing our attention to our faith in God.
What do you think and share what's on your mind?
