Pearl for Thought...

Hope and Hopeless– Webster defines Hope as cherishing a desire with anticipation, trust, and Hopelessness as having no expectation of good or success, giving no ground for hope.

When I look at these 2 words through my minds reflection mirror, I am saddened by the conditions of our present day society when it comes to you, our youth.

As we canvas the globe from one continent to the other, unrest, tension, turmoil and fear, blankets the horizon.  The smell of death and dying is everywhere.

  • Drugs, alcohol, youth sex trafficking are still prevalent

  • Guns, violence, trauma is still a great threat

  • The lack of jobs, skills, money, and opportunities for work seems mountainous.

  • You either don’t have enough job skills or not enough education.

  • I need a boyfriend, a girlfriend; someone to love me for me seems to be the theme of the day.

  • What’ wrong with me why I can’t find that perfect someone?

The list goes on and on..

Where is the hope or are YOU hopeless?

I believe hope is there and hope was there all the time.

First step,

  • Look within yourself,

  • Develop your own character,

  • Be comfortable in your own skin,

  • Establish and maintain your name,

  • Learn to love you,

  • Learn to appreciate your own gifts and talents,

  • Learn to accept your uniqueness,

  • Stop trying to be someone else than yourself,

  • Learn to see your own self-worth,

  • You might never have been told that you are important, special, talented, gifted, smart or brilliant,

  • Believe in yourself, your possibilities, your opportunities, your present and your future,

  • Surround yourself with positive people who are going somewhere,

  • Drop negativity and negative people, they will only hold you back from reaching your goals,

  • It may seem bleak, but it is doable, it I possible, there is hope!

  • You will have to work hard, but it will pay off and you will make it!

Learn to embrace hope and close the door on hopeless,

There is no room for it here!

Until next time……….peace!
